Up to now, many questions around the occurrence and impact of microplastics are unanswered, often due to the lack of reliable data. For the generation of such data, reliable analytical methods are imperative. However, techniques and procedures applied to determine microplastics so far are manifold and each has its strengths and shortcomings.
The JRC Symposium Challenges of microplastic analysis – Bridging state of the art and policy needs taking place on 9 September 2021, 14:00 – 18:00, will provide an overview about the study, as well as three other inter-laboratory comparisons.
